Our People

Susan T. Harris, President

Susan Harris’ professional experience encompasses thirty eight years and includes many different areas in the healthcare industry. Prior to founding Innovative Management Alternatives she was Vice President of Operations with a national physician billing and practice management company. In this capacity she was directly responsible for operations, accounts receivable management, budgeting, cash flow, profitability and client service for over 140 physicians of multiple specialties.

Susan is a past advisor to the Reimbursement Committee of the Virginia Chapter of the American College of Emergency Physicians and a current member of the Healthcare Billing & Management Association, Radiology Business Management Association and the Urgent Care Associations of America. Her specialty knowledge includes radiology, emergency medicine, neurology, physical medicine and rehabilitation, urgent care, hospitalists, intensivists, geriatrics, maternal fetal medicine, dermatology, anesthesiology, pathology, general surgery, vascular surgery, hand surgery, radiation oncology, internal medicine, cardiology and reproductive medicine.

Stephanie R. Fulk, Director of Operations

Stephanie Fulk has worked in the healthcare industry for over eighteen years.  Her areas of expertise include accounts receivable management, credentialing, client relations and education, insurance network, consulting and provider education.  Stephanie obtained her coding certification (CPC) through the American Academy of the Professional Coders where she is still currently a member.  She is also a current member of the Radiology Business Management Association and Healthcare Business Managers Association.    Her specialty knowledge includes urgent care, hospitalists, intensivists, physical medicine and rehabilitation, family medicine, geriatrics, radiology, obstetrics and gynecology, psychiatry, ear nose and throat, reproductive medicine and addiction medicine.  Stephanie worked for a national insurance company prior to coming to IMA in 2005 and finds having the dual sided experience to be extremely valuable.

Jane A. Longest, Chief Technology Officer

Jane Longest’s professional experience encompasses thirty years. Before joining Innovative Management Alternatives Jane was Director of Information Systems for Virginia HealthSource, a subsidiary of Bon Secours Health System. She led a department which provided information technology support to approximately 240 practices throughout Central Virginia.

Jane pioneered the implementation of the first Community Health Information Network (CHIN) initiative in Virginia, an information sharing initiative between Bon Secours Richmond facilities and it’s Virginia HealthSource affiliated physician practices. She also established a reseller network of PCN practice management software, and converted approximately 100 practices to this software. Jane’s beginning years in healthcare consisted of writing medical software for various physician, practice, and hospital needs. She is a member of the Richmond Medical Group Managers Association and the Healthcare Billing & Management Association.

G. Jeff Jessee, CFO/Executive Vice President

Jeff Jessee’s professional experience spans over 30 years of healthcare accounts receivable management. Jeff was Director of Healthcare Special Projects for a national accounts receivable management company and responsible for project sales and management through out the mid-Atlantic area. As an owner/entrepreneur Jeff has provided business solutions to various healthcare practices for over 18 years.

As a co-owner of IMA, Jeff’s knowledge of finance and marketing provides a firm foundation for growth for both IMA and its clients. Jeff is a member of the Healthcare Billing & Management Association.

Barbara W. Nixon, VP Client Services

Barbara Nixon’s professional experience encompasses over thirty five years. Before joining Innovative Management Alternatives, Barbara was employed with several national billing companies, regional physician practices, academic practices, and a national physician practice management company. Her areas of expertise include accounts receivable management, coding, practice administration and operations, training and consulting services. She obtained her coding certification (CCS-P) through the American Health Information Management Association in 1997. She is a member of the Radiology Business Management Association and the American Academy of Professional Coders. Barbara has extensive knowledge the following specialities – radiology, emergency medicine, otolaryngology, neurology, orthopedics, spine surgery, physical medicine and rehabilitation, urgent care, hospitalists, intensivists, geriatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, vascular surgery, general surgery, and maternal fetal medicine and reproductive medicine. IMA’s clients value Barbara’s enthusiastic, results-oriented approach.

Jasbir K. Walia, Manager – Computer Operations

Jasbir Walia’s professional experience in computer operations encompasses over thirty one years. Her areas of expertise include import and export of electronic files, operation, maintenance and support of practice management system and HIPAA compliant data storage. Her specialty knowledge includes around the clock system monitoring, Electronic Data Interchange, system change requests, system troubleshooting and client connectivity. Prior to fifteen years at IMA and her thirty one years in the Healthcare field, Jasbir taught high school biology in her native country of India and here in the United States. IMA’s clients feel their data is sheltered and safe from risk due to Jasbir’s loyalty and extensive knowledge of compliant data handling.

Jon Pruden, Co-Owner & Board Member

Jon Pruden is co-owner and President of Taste Unlimited LLC, a regional specialty foods business. Prior to acquiring TASTE in 2006, Jon was a partner at Kaufman & Canoles, P.C. where his practice focused on mergers and acquisitions, venture capital financings and intellectual property. Jon is a CIVIC Leadership Institute Fellow and serves on various boards, including Horizons Hampton Roads, The Williams School, the Pruden Foundation and the Specialty Food Association Retailer Network Council.
